Did that really just happen on National TV?

16 Jan

I usually try to keep my shameful secrets well, a secret but as I was watching the Miss America pageant last night (feel free to judge), I saw something that blew my mind. The finalist from Arkansas Alyse Eady had the single most amazing talent I have ever seen. Whereas the other girls sang stupid cliche showtunes or twirly little ballet numbers, Miss Arkansas, in a sequined red pantsuit, brought out her best friends – two ventriloquist dummies – and yodeled. The real shocker is that she didn’t win. Fortunately, everyone wins with the video below.

First, sequined pantsuit = amazing. How did I miss this?! Second, IMO, Miss Arkansas didn’t win because a very similar act was done at a Miss America pageant 23 years ago:

ps. Don’t ask me how I know this.
    pps. Wait, maybe you can.
